Turquoise & White

If you're struggling to find a colour theme for your Nigerian wedding this summer, how about keeping it simple with the classic and elegant combination of turquoise and white? The pictures surely speak for themselves...

Also check out my hijab style with a African twist for occassions where I don't want to go all out with the full head gear aka gele, but still want to do something different to my everyday look. I hope you like...

Where the journey began...

 (Zahra, Aleshinloye Market, 2010)
It was really lovely going back to Nigeria this summer. In the summer of 2010, I officially started by sewing journey with a two week apprenticeship with a seamstress based in our local market, Aleshinloye in Ibadan, Nigeria.

It was so nice going back to visit them this summer and seeing where my journey began and how far I've come since then. I've learnt sooooo much over the past two years and I can see such a huge improvement. I'm so grateful to my teachers and for the support of my family through out my journey. <3

Table for Two...

The theme for Day 6 of HFW is DATE NIGHT!! What would the perfect date with the (future) Hubby be???

Well, in my opinion, there's nothing better than a home cooked meal from the heart. As a woman, and a muslimah at that, your household is very important as we are home makers and that includes taking care of the Hubs.

Make sure you make an effort in your marriage and set aside a special time for you and your Hubs and go the extra mile by dolling yourself up and looking your best in the home... Here I'm rocking an exclusive abayah from Afa Bee.... Make sure you like their Facebook page!!

Wedding Bells Ringing...

Here's my look for Day 5 of Hijab Fashion Week, taken at my aunts wedding this summer in Abuja, Nigeria.

I am wearing one of my creations, a Limited Edition Piece I am producing for the public due to popular demand.

Order yours NOW, just email me on contact@zahrazakariya.com while stocks last.

Destination...Abuja

Here are some pictures from my recent vacation to Abuja, Nigeria. I finally put my fantasy destination outfit from the November HFW to use.

You can never go wrong with a jersey maxi, simple cardi and sandals.... And don't forget the shades to match =)

Lots of Love from... Great- Grandmother

For Day 3 of HFW, we've been given the creative theme of "Time Travel", and tasked with bringing something back from the past...

I chose a simple wrap, passed down from my beloved Great Grandma, Dorcas Fashanu (1915-2010). The wrap is particularly befitting for this theme as it has a clock tower motif on it.

Paired with a simple thin belt and shades to match, this is my Time Travellers look...xxx
