~Iftaar~

There are various manners of fasting for a Muslim person. For instance, eating a pre- dawn meal which has many benefits and blessings in it (As reported by Anas bin Maalik, related by Bukhari and Muslim).

Another is hastening to break ones fast once the sun has set. It is sunnah to break ones fast with dates and water. Anas reported:

The Messenger of Allah would break his fast with ripe dates before he would pray. If those were not available, he would eat dried dates. If those were not available, he would drink some water
(This hadith is related by Abu Dawud and al- Hakim, who call it sahih, and at-Tirmidhi who called it hassan)

A highlight of Ramadhan for many of us is breaking our fast and eating together as a family, community or with different groups of friends.

Wishing you all a blessed month ahead!
