~City Lit~

The long summer break is a great time for Zahra & Zinah to bond with their sewing machines. It is often difficult juggling our university workload, our part time jobs, business and our social lives. However, we feel it is really important that we develop our technical fashion skills, which include pattern making, pattern cutting, garment making, finishing and much more.

Over the summer, Zahra attended a Clothes making intensive course at City Lit in Holbron where she learnt a lot about the art of pattern altering using industrial patterns, the importance of a mock up, finishing techniques and much more. By the end of the course, Zahra had completed a layered skirt made from Ankara (Nigerian fabric) , that she wore to her friends wedding in July.

The course had only three sessions which meant a lot of work had to be done at home during the week. To find out more about courses at City Lit, follow the link. Here are some pictures from the course. Enjoy!
